How does the 2019 Acura RDX True Touchpad Interface work?
These days we feel more connected than ever. So much so that it can be hard to disconnect when it’s most important to do so. Such as when we’re driving. It’s easy for many of us to become casual behind the wheel, as we often eat in the car or find ourselves distracted by passengers. One thing that doesn’t need to be so distracting is the infotainment system. You’ve likely heard that the new Acura True Touchpad Interface, which has been launched in the redesigned 2019 Acura RDX, is more intuitive than ever, but now you can finally see it in action. Here’s how it works to make it simpler to keep your eyes on the road while navigating menus.
Touchpoints are directly equivalent to the screen layout
One of the reasons old touchpads weren’t so great is they simply weren’t accurate to the screen you were trying to navigate. It felt a bit like waving your computer mouse around until you finally see where it is on the screen. To this day, it can still be frustrating to use a laptop touchpad, right?
The Acura True Touchpad interface is finely tuned so where you are touching on the pad is directly calibrated to the scale of the 10.2-inch HD display. This makes it natural to reach over to the center, behind the gear shift, rather than lean forward and stare at the touchscreen while your vehicle is in motion.

The Acura True Touchpad Interface essentially allows you to navigate quickly and easily by touching on the pad like you would a mouse, but with the precision that allows you to simply glance at the console screen to confirm what you selected is highlighted. Then your eyes are free to flick right back to the road ahead.
