2018 Acura RLX Washington D.C.

There’s classic cars, and then there are just old designs. Acura is a luxury brand that never falls behind when it comes to creating fresh appearances for its luxury vehicles, and the 2018 Acura RLX is a model that fans particularly look to for innovation. Coming to Washington D.C. with a new design direction, the Acura RLX has adopted the signature diamond pentagon grille that can be seen across the lineup. It isn’t just appearances that are refreshed for this luxury sport sedan, as the model has been further improved under the Precision Crafted Performance goals of the brand.

A few new features have been added to the Acura RLX for 2018 to showcase the brand’s distinct DNA, including not only the diamond pentagon grille, but also a sculpted hood, fresh wheel designs, updated LED taillights, a gloss black rear diffuser and dual exhaust finishers.

Fresh looks, same great car

A redesigned look is the big news for the 2018 Acura RLX, but it isn’t just appearances that draw shoppers to the model. In particular, the Sport Hybrid Super-Handling All-Wheel Drive system, which is also found in the high-performance Acura NSX, is a favorite among RLX fans. This powertrain, which pairs a three-motor hybrid electric system with a 3.5-liter direct-injection V6 offers a total system output of 377 horsepower, for not only improved fuel economy over the standard gasoline-only option, but more power, precision and excitement behind the wheel.

This isn’t to say the V6-only RLX isn’t a great choice, as the vehicle still manages to offer up to 310 horsepower and is paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission for a sophisticated and potent driving experience.

AcuraWatch features are now standard for the 2018 Acura RLX, which includes well-known systems like Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Road Departure Mitigation. Added to these driver assistance systems is the new Traffic Jam Assist, which combines the functions of Adaptive Cruise Control with Low Speed Follow to help ease driver tension in stop-and-go traffic.
